it was mid-day in Shada. the sun was gleaming off of the lovely white temple and the produce in the market as well. the chatter of people was abundant in the marketplace and the gentle lowing of cattle could be heard in the fields nearby.
Rikku stepped out of a portal from Senya and into an alleyway then proceeded to fix his clothing and hair. he wore an azure blue tunic that reached about halfway down his thighs and light coloured leggings with simple brown boots and his necklace neatly tucked away beneath the shirt. his hair was held back by a wooden hair clip as opposed to his usual white ribbon which he had tucked safely into his dresser in his dorm in Senya Kaime.
he had taken to exploring the lands through the portals in Senya ever since he had accidentally fallen through one while cleaning. it fascinated him, the lands of Maihito....they were so very different from Japan. cultures from around the human world had been combined to create a whole new world and it was amazing and beautiful to him, as it was to many.
he walked through the marketplace, looking at the produce with a soft smile, not noticing that some of the people were staring at his familiar visage. just as he was about to pick up an apple and ask how much it was, a man who appeared to be a soldier came and grasped his shoulder. "...your name...it's Rikku, isn't it?" the man asked. Rikku looked at him warily. how on earth did he know his name? "y-yes.....who might you be?" he asked. they were in a crowded place, it's not like anything bad would happen if he gave his name, right? the soldier smiled, but it was a bit of a selfish smile that made Rikku worry. "come with me, please." said the soldier. Rikku shook his head. "um....n-no thank you....I am happy where I am right now." he said. he tried to walk away but the man grabbed him a bit roughly by the arms. "you don't understand, you have to come with me." said the soldier. "I-I said no, so please leave me alone, okay?" Rikku said, trying to be assertive like his sister said to be when telling someone no. the soldier sighed. "alright, we'll do it the hard way..." he grumbled. he picked Rikku up and slung him over his shoulder, causing the boy to yelp. "put me down! put me down!!" Rikku cried, kicking the man but unfortunately not doing anything since he wore chainmail beneath his uniform. "I'm sorry, but my king must see you. he won't believe what I've found!" said the soldier. the only thing Rikku could think was that he'd stepped into a land of insane people and that he should have stayed in his dorm today.
after a long walk on the soldier's part and alot of kicking and screaming on Rikku's they arrived at the castle and other soldiers and attendants came to see what was going on. the man put Rikku upon his feet once more and gripped him a bit too firmly by the shoulders. he just knew he'd have bruises now but it was partly his own fault for fighting so much. the others stared in amazement at his face and one ran into the throne room ahead of the soldier to inform the king that there was something he simply must see, though he didn't give away what it was.
the soldier basically dragged the still fighting Rikku into the throne room then bent him so he was on his knees, gripping him firmly by the upper arms this time -and likely causing more bruises as Rikku fought him more-, then re-thought his position and wrapped one arm around the boy and used the other to brush long red hair out of the youth's eyes before tilting his face up and forcing him to look up at the king. "please, I haven't done anything, why am I here?" he asked in a pleading voice, truly not knowing why he was here.
