Background
Parents/Guardians: Tsutsui -Ming Li- Wakata (mother) Takeshi Wakata
Siblings: Kimiko Wakata (older sister)
Place of birth: Kyoto Japan
History: Mahiko was born while his family was on one of his father's business trips in Kyoto. for the first few years of his life his father was absent so his mother taught him Mandarin instead of Japanese, so when he went to school, he struggled a great deal with having to learn Japanese. he spoke broken Japanese for a long time and was teased and tormented for what was really a cute accent. to channel a bit of his frustration, he was enrolled in various martial arts programs by his mother Tsutsui who was herself an accomplished fighter. there he met Keiji, a kind boy who quickly became his best friend. they did everything together. when he was about 9 years old, he got sick of his overly long hair and asked his mother if he could get it cut, but she grew upset with him as she had wanted him to never have a haircut just as she had never had one. he argued that he could barely see with his long bangs, but she wouldn't listen to him and he left for school angry. later in the day he went to a martial arts tournament for youths and though he was angry with her, he worried when his mother did not show up. after the tournament he recieved a call from a doctor saying his mother had been hit by a car and was in the hospital. he rushed over to her and was informed she had survived but was in a coma. when he proved he was her son, they gave him access to her belongings and he found a headband that she had just purchased and felt sick when he realized she had bought it because he had said he couldn't see for his bangs. he took the headband and went to his father's office to inform him of what happened. whebn he began to say it was his fault his father grabbed him and began choking him, telling him how he'd never wanted him and that it was his fault he'd lost his wife. at first he didn't fight back, thinking he deserved to die, but as he felt himself slipping away instinct took over and he grabbed a stapler and slammed it into his father's head. the man let go and Mahiko ran fot it. his feet soon took him to Keiji's house and Keiji let him stay with him that night and held him in his arms as they slept. it was Keiji's kindness that had slowly made him fall for him. one day however, Keiji suddenly became distant and when he asked about it, Keiji told him he had pitied him so he became his friend, but could no longer stay friends with him because he didn't want to be friends with a gay boy. Mahiko was shocked and confused and their friendship ended that day, becoming a bitter rivalry. about a year later a girl named Amia moved to his city and after accidentally sending a soccer ball crashing into her head. he began feeling something for her and this was solidified when she took his first kiss one day after saying how cute he was. he's been in love with her ever since, but he's always been afraid of telling her how he feels. now at the age of 15 he's been whisked away from the human world to become a warrior of the gods for both fire and water. He and his best friend are the first people to ever be warriors for more than one elemental god.
Miscellaneous: when he gets flustered the accent he worked so hard to get rid of comes back with a vengance. Amia taught him some english, but he does better with Japanese. he is a virgin and he believes he should only lose it to someone he loves. he gets really upset when called gay becuase Keiji always mocks him and calls him gay, so he doesn't often admit that he is bi unless he is close to the person.
the truth about Keiji is that Keiji had fallen in love with Mahiko but feared his own homosexual feelings and what his body was aching to do to Mahiko so he shunned the elf hoping that putting some distance between them could rid him of his problems, but he knows now that all that did was hurt them both. he regrets it now and debates telling Mahiko how he truly feels.
